Amelia
Amelia was taught live over Zoom in January 2021 (4 - 1 hour sessions).
The new recorded version of this HD Homeland class includes access to the sheet music, full replays of the four live sessions taught by Mary Lynn, as well as supplementary videos to help you practice and learn.
You will also get Ken Kolodner's Video Lesson for Amelia, —his sheet music, instructional videos, additional backup and arranging ideas, and play-throughs on HD and on fiddle. Once you register for this class, we will send you links for Ken's videos. (If you have previously purchased Amelia from Ken, contact Laurie for a discount code to use here).
LEVEL: Intermediate and Advanced
One of Mary Lynn's most frequently requested tunes to teach is Amelia by Bob McQuillen
Fun fact: This tune is often referred to as Amelia's or Amelia's Waltz, but the correct name for it is Amelia.
When Ken Kolodner taught this tune during Week 3 at Sandbridge in 2017, Mary Lynn spent the next 6 months working on mastering the beautiful backup (4 pages worth!) that Ken provided. There is a lot to digest in this tune, and it is so worth spending the time!
How many times have you learned a tune, backup, and arrangement during a workshop, and then gone home to find it hard to remember everything?
This class is different - you'll get a full week to practice in between lessons. In week 1, we'll learn the basic melody for Amelia, and then you will have the week to practice and work on your own before we move on to the backup in Week 2. And you will always have the class replays to help you.
Here's What You Get
Over 4 weeks, Mary Lynn guides you through the melody, backup and a lovely arrangement of this tune. You'll get practice strategies and tips to help you learn each week, and after the four weeks are over, you will have a great playable arrangement, as well as a backup to play with others.
